    highly recommend it!

  • Is this game really “open world”? I’m not into linear shooters like CoD where you just follow the map and shoot stuff.

Yeah, it’s open world, but not in the same way as something like Skyrim. You can wander off the beaten path, do side missions, and explore. But the story pushes you in certain directions. It’s not super free, but you have enough flexibility to keep it interesting.

Far Cry 5: Should You Buy It? A Buying Guide

Highlights and Advantages:

  • Immersive and expansive open-world environment with diverse gameplay opportunities.
  • Engaging story and memorable characters, despite a controversial narrative.
  • Excellent gunplay and satisfying combat mechanics.

Similars:

  • Ghost Recon Wildlands: Offers a more tactical and squad-based approach to open-world gameplay, focusing on stealth and strategic combat. This might be preferable to those who prefer a more deliberate pace.
  • Just Cause 4: Provides an over-the-top, physics-based gameplay experience with more chaotic and less grounded action compared to Far Cry 5's more realistic approach.
  • Red Dead Redemption 2: Offers a far more detailed and immersive world with a compelling narrative and strong character development. This is a great choice for players prioritizing story and character.

What You Need To Know Before Buying:

Before purchasing Far Cry 5, consider your PC specifications. Ensure your system meets the minimum requirements, or ideally exceeds them, to enjoy smooth and stable gameplay. Also, consider how much time you have available; it's a large game with a lengthy campaign and a lot of side content.

Extra Tips:

  1. Check out gameplay videos to see if the gameplay style appeals to you.
  2. Read reviews from various sources to get a wider perspective on the game's strengths and weaknesses.
  3. Consider if you enjoy open-world games with a focus on shooting and exploration.
  4. Be aware of the game's mature themes and potential for violence.
  5. Look for the game on sale to potentially get a better deal (though pricing is outside the scope of this evaluation).
