Nice. Had an 8600g in my cart waiting for the price to drop. Thanks!!
Putting this in a new NAS build
Not the best idea for gaming though, just in case anyone's wondering. Reduced number of pcie lanes in the g chips
Should only buy one if you're ONLY going to use the igpu. Otherwise this cpu is lame.
Great deal for a 6core processor with solid performance and a decent stock cooler included.

Highlights and Advantages
- Exceptional integrated graphics performance for a CPU, ideal for casual gaming and multimedia tasks.
- High core count and thread count offering smooth multitasking and responsive performance for everyday use.
- Excellent power efficiency, keeping your system cool and your energy bills lower.
Similar Products
- Intel Core i5-13400: Offers slightly higher clock speeds for certain tasks, resulting in potentially faster performance in specific applications.
- AMD Ryzen 5 7600X: Features a higher boost clock speed than the 8600G, leading to better performance in demanding applications, although it lacks integrated graphics.
- Intel Core i5-13600K: Possesses a higher core count and significantly faster clock speeds than the 8600G, boosting overall performance but demanding a more robust cooling solution.
What You Need to Know Before Buying
Before purchasing any CPU, including the Ryzen 5 8600G, ensure your motherboard is compatible with the AM5 socket. Check your motherboard's specifications and the CPU's requirements to avoid incompatibility issues. Also, confirm your power supply unit (PSU) has sufficient wattage to handle the CPU and other components in your system. Finally, consider your cooling solution; while the Wraith Stealth cooler is included, a more robust cooler might be needed for overclocking or intensive workloads.
Extra Tips
- Consider your intended use: The 8600G excels in multitasking and casual gaming; if you need top-tier gaming performance, a dedicated GPU is recommended.
- Check benchmark reviews to compare performance across different applications and games.
- Look for bundled software or warranty offers from the retailer.
- Factor in the cost of a compatible motherboard and other components.
- Research the long-term support for the AM5 socket to ensure future upgradeability.
