Now, this looks like something for the garage. If you’re working on cars or doing some detailing, this thing probably does the job. I’ve always trusted DEWALT tools for the long haul, so I bet this one’s good too.
Bet this thing could make your car look like it just came outta the dealership. Too bad I’m still driving my old ride, smh.
This looks awesome! My boyfriend would absolutely love this. I might just get it for him.
My uncle got one of these a while ago. He said it’s good, but not really a must-have unless you're really into car stuff.

DEWALT 20V MAX* XR Cordless Polisher (DCM849B): Should You Buy It?
Highlights and Advantages:
- Powerful 20V motor provides ample power for various polishing tasks.
- Variable speed control allows for precise control and adaptability to different surfaces and materials.
- Lightweight and ergonomic design minimizes user fatigue during extended use.
Similares:
- Makita BO6040 Random Orbital Sander: Offers random orbital action for a swirl-free finish, superior for paint correction compared to the rotary action of the DeWalt.
- Porter-Cable 7424XP Random Orbital Polisher: Features a more compact design and potentially less aggressive polishing action, ideal for less demanding tasks or beginners.
- Griot's Garage 6-Inch Random Orbital Polisher: Known for its high-quality build and smooth operation, providing a more premium polishing experience.
What You Need to Know Before Buying:
Before purchasing a rotary polisher like the DEWALT DCM849B, consider the following technical aspects:
- Experience Level: Rotary polishers are powerful tools that can easily damage paint if not used correctly. Beginners should consider a dual-action or random orbital polisher instead. Rotary polishers require significant skill and practice.
- Battery Compatibility: Ensure compatibility with your existing 20V MAX* XR battery system. Check if you have the necessary batteries and charger.
- Pad Size and Type: The polisher's compatibility with different pad sizes and types will affect its versatility. Consider the types of pads you'll need for different polishing tasks.
- Application: Determine if a rotary polisher is the best tool for your specific needs. It's primarily suited for paint correction and heavy-duty polishing but is less suitable for finer detailing.
Extra Tips:
- Watch several demonstration videos before using the polisher to understand proper techniques and safety procedures.
- Invest in high-quality polishing pads designed for use with rotary polishers.
- Practice on a less visible area before polishing your entire car or project.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye protection and a respirator.
- Always consult the user manual before operating the polisher.
Level up your savings. It's free.
