I’ve heard so much about this game, but I’ve never played it. Is it beginner-friendly for someone new to JRPGs?
I don’t get the hype. The game is so slow at the start, and there’s way too much dialogue for my taste. It feels like more of a visual novel than a JRPG.
I get what you’re saying, the beginning is definitely a bit slow. But once the story picks up, the gameplay and characters really make it worth it. Its a really good game

Well, you play as a high school student who leads a group of "phantom thieves" entering a mysterious world to steal corrupt hearts and change people’s lives. It’s a mix of daily life, friendships, and fighting to uncover dark secrets

Looks cool, but I’m worried it might be too long for me. Hope its okay to play it casually lol
Persona 5 Royal - Nintendo Switch (Digital): Should You Buy It?
Highlights and Advantages:
- An incredibly rich and engaging story with memorable characters.
- A polished and refined JRPG experience with deep gameplay mechanics.
- Improved upon the original Persona 5 with extra content and quality-of-life improvements.
Similar Games:
- Persona 4 Golden: Offers a different, yet equally compelling, story and cast of characters, with a more classic JRPG feel. Advantage: More traditional JRPG structure.
- SMT V: Provides a darker, more challenging, and lore-rich experience within the same universe, but with a different gameplay style. Advantage: A different take on the genre with more strategic combat.
- Dragon Quest XI S: Offers a more traditional JRPG experience with a charming story, beautiful world, and simpler mechanics. Advantage: Easier entry point into the JRPG genre.
What You Need to Know Before Buying:
Before purchasing Persona 5 Royal digitally for the Nintendo Switch, ensure you have sufficient storage space on your console. The game is sizeable, and you'll need enough room for updates and potential future DLC. Additionally, consider your preferred play style. While the Switch's portability is a benefit, the game’s text-heavy nature might make handheld play less comfortable for extended periods.
Extra Tips:
- Read reviews and watch gameplay videos to get a better feel for the game's art style and tone. It's a very stylized game.
- Consider if you've played Persona 5 before. The Royal version adds significant content, but the core experience will be familiar.
- Be aware of the game's length; it's a substantial time commitment.
- Check if you have any pre-existing knowledge about the Persona series. It helps, but is not mandatory.
- Look up potential spoilers if you wish to preserve a sense of surprise. The story is a significant part of the game’s appeal.
Level up your savings. It's free.
