I quite agree. but make sure your laptop can output 2k - unfortunately some budget laptops won't output 2k

It does not look like it is VESA compatible. So if you are planning to mount this to an arm it will not work

27" Acer IPS Full HD Monitor: Should You Buy It?

Highlights and Advantages

  • Crisp, clear Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution on a large 27" screen.
  • IPS technology ensures accurate colors and wide viewing angles.
  • Ultra-thin and zero-frame design for a sleek, modern aesthetic.

Similars

  • Dell UltraSharp U2720Q: Offers better color accuracy and higher color gamut coverage than the Acer monitor, ideal for professional photo/video editing.
  • LG 27UL500-W: Features USB-C connectivity for easy single-cable setup with laptops.
  • ASUS ProArt PA278QV: Boasts a higher refresh rate, beneficial for smoother gameplay and video editing.

What You Need to Know Before Buying

Before purchasing this, or any other 27" monitor, consider these technical aspects:

  • Connectivity: Check the available ports (HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.) to ensure compatibility with your devices.
  • Stand adjustability: Determine if you need height, tilt, swivel, or pivot adjustments to find the most comfortable viewing position. The Acer's specifications should detail this.
  • VESA mounting compatibility: If you plan to use a monitor arm or wall mount, verify VESA compatibility (the standard for mounting monitors).

Extra Tips

  1. Read user reviews to get a sense of real-world performance and potential issues.
  2. Compare the Acer's specifications to other monitors in its price range and feature set.
  3. Consider your intended use (gaming, office work, photo editing) when comparing specs.
  4. Check the warranty offered by the manufacturer.
  5. Visit a store if possible to see the monitor in person before purchasing.
